One of our service users at Hope House volunteered to represent St Helens and to speak about his experience of homelessness at the launch of this new intiative which has been rolled out across six councils in the City region of Liverpool.
The aim of this initiative is to prevent anyone who has to sleep rough for one night from sleeping rough a second night. If members of the public see a rough sleeper they are asked to contact the helpline on 0300 123 2041 so that help and support can be provided as quickly as possible.
Our service user was able to speak from experience as he was homeless for five years before we were able to support him into accommodation with the Salvation Army. Through continued support he now has a place of his own and is independent and looking to the future.

Are you looking for small office space? The office at Chain Lane Community centre will be available for use from early December. Previously used by one of our user groups who have now acquired their own premises, the Management Committee are looking for an organisation/individual to hire the office. As part of their room hire agreement, the following duties are required: Opening up and closing the building during office hours, answering the Centre phone, taking bookings, receiving booking payments, receiving the mail, checking the building and reporting any faults and breakages – not onerous tasks. This model has worked really well for both parties. The main benefit to the Centre is to have the Centre visibly open. There is access to toilets and a kitchen, an adjacent meeting room and Hall. Car parking is available in front of the building and at the nearby shopping precinct. It is on a bus route to/from St Helens town centre. Interested?
