Whether you’re looking to become a sole trader, a social enterprise or any other kind of company we’d like to help you get started.
If you are a St Helens resident and would like to take the first steps in starting a business we can offer you a place on our free business support project, Building Enterprise in Communities (BEiC).

Hope Centre Gateway

The Hope Centre Gateway is the induction path into our available courses, we offer appointments with our lovely Gateway Officer David who can give you all the information you need about our courses.

These appointments are offered on a one to one basis but you are more than welcome to bring along a family member or friend for moral support. Gateway appointments are available every Thursday and last for approximately 1 hour.

Computers for Beginners

Informal Laptop Sessions with two dedicated experienced helpers on hand to help improve your typing and computer skills. Come along to:

Understand the basics of computers
Everything from how to turn it on, using a mouse and keyboard, and familiarising yourself with the system.

Browse the internet
Research information, find further help and support, watch multimedia videos, shop online and so much more…

Enhance your office skills
Today’s workplace puts great emphasis on being able to use a computer. Learn how to work with word processing packages, spreadsheets, desktop publishing and presentations.

Deal with your finances
Learn about internet banking and the options available to you in managing your finances.

Have fun and play games…
Or if you’d just like to have a bit of fun, explore the mountain of online games and activities at the click of a mouse.

Grow Your Own

Just started to have a go at growing your own fruit and vegetables? Then this is the group for you. We will show you what is involved and what you need to consider .We will talk you through our experiences and help you learn where to start to realising your dreams. Subjects include, Soil types-testing and improving, Clearing the ground and using raised beds, What to grow in your first year, Cultivation techniques –sowing, planting and when to harvest. There will also be an opportunity to look around the community allotment.
