
The information on this page details just some of the services that we can offer to 15 - 19 year olds.
The Challenge offers alternative education to year 11 students.
There are 3 Challenges. - Personal Development, Future Choices
and Work Placements.

Young People attend at least 2 days per week and participate in one to one and group work addressing their individual needs. |

Progression is either within the programme to different challenges, other alternative provision or return to school. |

The Link is a similar programme held in the last term
of year 11. |

Gateway Link is a short programme aiming to engage young people
into mainstream provision. Young people attend short sessions
in small groups. These sessions are about issues that are
relevant to the young people e.g

Individual support is available for each participant to enable
them to overcome any barriers to entering training, education
and/or employment. Each young person sets their own goals
and receives reward vouchers upon achievement.
Travel and lunch expenses are given for each session attended.
Young people stay on Gateway Link until they are ready to
move on to education, training and/or employment.

Referral Criteria
Any young person experiencing difficulties accessing training and employment and living in a Pathways area. Self referrals or by an agency.
Young people work to 4 challenges
Gateway Challenge - looks at punctuality,attendance
and commitment.
Citizenship Challenge - looks at environment,
independent living, charity work and volunteering.
Personal Challenge - looks at addressing personal
issues such as homelessness, mental health, substance misuse
etc
Future Choices - looking at progression including
opportunity of work placements.
Vouchers are awarded upon acheivement of each challenge.
Each young person attends topic-led group sessions and one to one support. Sessions are very interactive using sport, drama, art, music etc to engage participants. Outdoor activities and residentials are an integral part of the programme.
Qualifications on offer
include Skills for Life, Keyskills, ASDAN Workright and Life Certificate plus a variety of awards.
Young people can claim Educational Maintenance Allowance whilst on the programme plus travel expenses.

As a major partner in the St Helns Entry to Employment Partnership St Helens Chamber offers a work placement programme to E2E participants.
Workability is part of the St Helens E2E provision managed
by St Helens College.
Young people can sample various occupational areas with
an employer whilst attending Starting Point weekly to achieve
a qualification.
The young person can choose to do Basic Skills or Key Skills.
For those interested in Administration or Retail, the opportunity
to study to NVQ1 is available.
The programme can last for 12 months depending on their needs and requirements.
The programme suits young people who are not sure what type
of work they wish to pursue, or who need extra support when
first on placement with an employer.
IIt is hoped that participants will move onto apprenticeships.
