The Countess of Wessex visits the Deafness Resource Centre Nov 09

HRH the Countess of Wesex met staff, members, students and committee members, when she visited us on 19th November to Launch our 80 Years Deaf History Book and DVD

81st Annual General Meeting

Thanks to everyone who attended the 81st AGM of the St Helens & District Society for Deaf People in October.

Special thanks to the Mayor, Cllr Terry Shields, who chaired the meeting and said some very kind and positive words at the end of the meeting.

Charity Incorporates, April 2009

St Helens & District Society for Deaf People will be closing on 31st March 2009. However, don't panic!!! ...

We are changing our name and legal status on 1st April 2009. From then on, we will be called Deafness Resource Centre Limited , with a new Charity number (1128148) and also a Company Limited by Guarantee Number (6807282).

All services, contact details, and aims of the charity will stay the same. Clients will see no difference other than the name.

By incorporating a charity, it makes it more secure for the future, as we wish to continue for another 80 years and beyond!

Cracking Christmas for Kids! Dec 08

Fun was had by all at our Children’s Christmas Party.
D/deaf children, their siblings and Children of Deaf Adults
enjoyed a magic show and disco, followed by a Christmas meal at the Deafness Resource Centre.

A surprise visitor—Father Christmas dropped in to hand out presents, much to the children’s delight!

We would like to thank NDCS for funding this event.

80th Anniversary Week Oct 08

And What a Week it Was!!

Over 180 people attended various events at the Deafness Resource Centre during the Celebration Week 6th-12th October 2008 to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Charity. With Grants from Awards for All and St Helens Council, and working with St Helens College, the week was very special indeed.
